Jamia beat Zakir Husain College in final
New Delhi, Feb 26 (IANS) The seven-year reign of Zakir Husain College ended Tuesday as Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) defeated the defending Champions in the final of the 25th Zakir Husain Memorial Football Tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here.
In the regulation period of 90 minutes, both the teams failed to score any goal. Although Zakir Husain College got a couple of easy chances, Kartik Bahuguna and Divyanshu Singh failed to convert them into goals.
However, in the penalty shoot-out, JMI’S custodian Narender brought off a brilliant save and enabled his team to beat their opponents 3-2. For the winners Nikhil, Tushnik and Adil converted their spot kicks while only Vijay and Manoj were successful for Zakir Hussain.
