Kuala Lumpur, Jan 19 (IANS) Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal of India was dumped out of the women’s singles semifinal at the Malaysian Open Super Series by sixth seed Tzu Ying Tai of Chinese Taipei here Saturday.
The top seed looked totally out of sync and lost to the Chinese Taipei shuttler 20-22, 14-21 in just 35 minutes.
India’s ace failed to win even a single clear winner in the entire match.
Saina fought hard in the first game, taking a 5-4 lead early on. It was anyone’s game with the score tied on 20-all, however, Tai held her cool and closed out the game without dropping any further points.
Saina was completely blown away in the second as the sixth seed held her lead from start to finish to demolish the world No.2 in straight games.
