Manipal progress in Inter-University cricket

Manipal, Dec 23 (IANS) Hosts Manipal University moved up in the South Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament with a massive 317-run win over NLSI, Bangalore at the Manipal Institute of Technology ground here Sunday.

Put in to bat, they piled up 347 with a century from Nishant V and a good knock of 87 from Bharath Negi. The Bangalore side was shot out for only 30 runs.

Suresh Babu of Srikrishna Devaraya University, Anantapur took a hat trick in a haul of five for 21 to give his side a big win of 175 runs over Gitam University, Vishakapatnam. Suresh had earlier performed well with the bat to score 55.

At MIT Ground: Manipal U beat NLSI, Bangalore by 317 runs. Manipal U 347 all out in 48.3 overs (Bharath Negi 87 Nishant V 108 Abhishek Shetty 51, Sumit Agarwal 27. Mayank Agarwal 3 for 56, Tushar Talwar 2 for 58, Ananya Gaur 4/63. NLS 30 all out (Ren 3 for one Prashant 2 for five nishant 2 for four, Sumit Agarwal 2 for two).

At Manipal University Ground I: Osmania U beat Bharathidasan U Tiruchirapally by two wickets. Bharathidasa U Tiruchirapally 145 all out 42.2 overs (Pradeep Krishna 31, Vignesh M -29. Vishwajeeth 4 for 21, Parashar 2 for 28). Osmania U Hyderabad 146 for 8 in 44.1 overs (Sharath Mudiraj 26, PT Subhash 4 for 20).

At Manipal University Ground 2: Srikrishna Devaraya U, Anantapuram beat Gitam U Vishakapatnam by 175 runs. Srikrishna U Anantapuram 239 all out in 45.4 overs (Suresh Babu 55, Harshavardhan 24, Anudeep 28, Chandra 21. Martin U 5 for 51, Pawan 2 for 47). Gitam U Vishakapatnam 64 all out in 22 overs (Abhinav Sagar 17, Shakti Nayak 13. Suresh Babu 5 for 21, including hat-trick).

At MGM College: Srivenkatshwara U Tirupathi beat Vikramasimhapuri U, Nellore by seven wickets. Vikramasimhapuri U. Nellore 131 all out in 40.2 overs (Arif Ahmed 25, D Dilip 24, K Shivaji 16, Guruvaiah 12, Hariprasad 10, Manohar 10. Maheswar Reddy 6 for 26, Anil 2 for 19). Srivenkateshwara U Tiruchirapalli 134 for 3 in 15.3 overs (A Venkatesh 47, Vikram Surya Teja 32n.o Durga Prasad 16 n.o D dilip 2 for 17).

At NIT-K, Surathkal Ground 1: Rani Channamma UV Belgavi beat Rashtriya Sanskrit U Tirupathi by 238 runs. Rani Channama U Belgavi 324 for nine in 50 overs. (Ganesh Kangralkar 60, GirishKuntagi 56, Rohi Desai 52, Tejas Pawar 56, Prem 26. M Obaiah 3 for 51, Dev Presad Baby 2 for 56, Sameer Kumar 2 for 63). At NIT-K Surathkal, Ground 2: Mahatma Gandhi U Kottayam beat Archarya Nagarjuna U, AP by 45 runs.
