ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Pakistan one-day captain Misbah-ul-Haq says leftarm fast bowlers Junaid Khan and Mohammad Irfan played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s 2-1 victory over India after seven years.
Hundreds of fans greeted the national cricket team on Monday and some danced to drums the moment they saw the players walking out of the lounge at the Lahore airport.
Irfan and Khan combined for 11 wickets in the series and Misbah said his bowlers “outclassed” India for a “huge win.”
India averted its first ever whitewash at the hands of Pakistan when it successfully defended a small total of 167 in New Delhi to win by 10 runs. Misbah said he had aimed for the clean sweep, “but credit goes to the other team for fighting well.”
