ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — The Pakistan Cricket Board says fast bowlers Tanvir Ahmed and Rahat Ali will join the team in South Africa ahead of the first test, which starts in Johannesburg on Friday.
The PCB says in a statement on Sunday that the selection committee decided to reinforce the squad after the team management considered “conditions and duration of the tour.”
The selectors had picked four fast bowlers — Umar Gul, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Irfan and Ehsan Ali — but ODI captain Mohammad Hafeez had said the team was one fast bowler short.
Rightarmer Ahmed has taken 16 wickets in four test matches while leftarm quick Ali has played one ODI and is yet to make his test debut.
Pakistan plays three test matches, two Twenty20s and five ODIs against South Africa.
