Sao Paulo, Nov 14 (IANS/EFE) Retired soccer great Pele remains hospitalized here in Brazil’s largest city after undergoing hip surgery, doctors said.
Surgeons performed an arthroplasty procedure on the right hip of the 72-year-old Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Sao Paulo’s Albert Einstein Hospital said in a statement.
The man widely regarded as the greatest soccer player ever is in “good health” and recovering from the operation, according to the statement Tuesday.
Pele’s doctors have not offered a time-frame for when he will be discharged, a hospital spokesman told EFE.
