Powell powers West Indies to 228-3 at tea on day 1 of 1st test vs Bangladesh

DHAKA, Bangladesh — Opener Kieran Powell smashed an unbeaten century to steady the West Indies innings to Indies 228-3 at tea Tuesday after the loss of three early wickets on the opening day of the first test against Bangladesh.
Powell hit 115 off 175 balls after Bangladesh offspinner Sohag Gazi (2-59) marked the first session of his first test with the dismissal of Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul added 46 runs as Bangladesh failed to make another breakthrough in the second session.
Shahadat Hossain, who claimed the wicket of Darren Bravo in the morning, failed to make any impact after lunch.
