Prem Sagar, Mukesh and Rajvignesh star performers

Manipal, Dec 16 (IANS) A quick-fire 151 by Prem Sagar for Sri Venkateswara, Tirupathi, and a hat-trick by off-spinner T. Mukesh Kumar for Kalasalingam were the highlights of the second day’s matches in the South Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament here Sunday.

At the Manipal University ground, left-hand batsman Prem blasted the Hindustan University, Chennai, bowlers to score 151 off only 100 deliveries with 14 boundaries and five sixes. His knock enabled Sri Venkateswara to score 284 for seven, paving the way for their 96-run victory over Hindustan who were dismissed for 188.

The other notable performance came from Pondicherry’s Rajvignesh who claimed seven for 12 in bowling his side to an eight-wicket victory over University of Hyderabad.

At SMS PU College, Brahmavar, Mukesh made short work of VSKU Bellary with the hat-trick.

Bellary were all out for 91 and Kalasalingam got the runs losing only two wickets.

There were two walkovers, University of Agriculture Sciences, Dharwad, failing to show up for their match against Kerala Agriculture University, Thrissur, and Periyar, Tamil Nadu, against Central University, Kasaragod.

At S.M.S. College, Brahmavar: VSKU, Bellary, 91 in 28.3 overs (Nikith 32, Ramesh 15. T. Mukesh Kumar 3 for 3 and M. Ponmanoj 3 for 28) lost to Kalasalingam University 93 for 2 in 24.4 overs (Milton Raja S 26, Ponsundaran 20, Rajalingam 24 n.o.) by eight wickets

At MIT: Dr NTRUHS, Vijayawada , 210 for 9 in 50 overs (Swaroop 81, S Srinivasan 23, R Pritam 21. Balakrishna 2 for 42 and Laksmipathi 4 for 40) lost to Dravidian University, Kuppam 213 for 6 in 48.5 overs (M. Balakrishna 87, S Ganesh 16, D Laksmipathi 47 n.o, S Sudhakar 18 n.o) by four wickets.

At NITK Surathkal Ground 1: AMET, Chennai 90 in 25.2 overs (Satish 40, Deepak 13, Wilson 2 for 14 and Manohar 2 for five. Lost to JNTU Kakinada 93 for 3 in 18.3 overs (Praneet 44, Rohit Verma 23, Rewanth 2 for 9) by seven wickets.

At NITK Surathkal Ground 2: University of Hyderabad 68 in 25 overs (Achut 16, R Chauhan 13. Rajvignesh 7 for 12 and Devendra 2 for 25) lost to Pondicherry 72 for 2 in eight overs ( Raghuram 30 n.o., Rajvignesh 27) by eight wickets.
