Ravi Bopara added to 13-man England squad to face South Africa in 1st test at The Oval

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

LONDON — Ravi Bopara has been included in the 13-man England squad for the 1st test against South Africa at The Oval starting on Thursday.

Bopara takes the place of Jonny Bairstow in the only change to the squad that beat West Indies 2-0.

National selector Geoff Miller says the 27-year-old Bopara “has worked hard to regain his place in the test squad following some injury concerns earlier in the season and is the only player included who is yet to play a test match this summer.”

Squad:

Andrew Strauss (captain), James Anderson, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Alastair Cook, Steven Finn, Graham Onions, Kevin Pietersen, Matt Prior, Graeme Swann, Jonathan Trott.
