Sonashee wins a golden double

Lucknow, Dec 28 (IANS) Sonashee Bhatnagar of Punjab completed a golden double at the AITA Talent Series Tennis Championship, winning both the girls Under-12 and Under-14 singles titles here Friday.

In the boy’s section, Uttarakhand’s Drona Walia won the Under-12 title whereas Danish Ahmad of Delhi claimed the Under-14 crown at the La Martiniere Tennis Facility here.

Sonashee, playing aggressively, outplayed Delhi’s Kiran Kalkar 6-1, 6-2 in Under-14 final before brushing aside third seed Delhi’s Kiran Kalkar also in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 in Under-12 final.

Sixth seed Drona Walia of Delhi outplayed top seed Ashutosh Tiwari of Uttar Pradesh 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 to win the Under-12 title where as third seed Danish Ahmad of Delhi defeated statemate and fourth seed Mohit Seherawat 6-2, 6-2 in Under-14 final.

Final results:

Boys Under-14 singles: 3-Danish Ahmad bt 4-Mohit Seherawat 6-2, 6-4.

Boys Under-12 singles: 6-Drona Walia bt 1-Ashutosh Tiwari 6-4, 7-5, 6-4.

Girls Under-14 singles: Sonashee Bhatnagar bt Kiran Kalkar 6-1, 6-2.

Girl’s Under-12 singles: 1-Sonashee Bhatnagar bt Kiran Kalkar 6-1, 6-2.
