SYDNEY, Australia — Centre Kane Linnett scored two tries to lead North Queensland to a 20-16 win over Melbourne, handing the Storm their third straight loss and allowing Canterbury to pull level into first place in Australia’s National Rugby League.
The Storm came into the match on Saturday knowing two of their closest pursuers — the Bulldogs and Brisbane Broncos — had won Friday matches.
Canterbury won for the seventh time in a row, beating Parramatta 32-12 as fullback Ben Barba scored one try and set up three others to allow the Bulldogs to join Melbourne in first place.
Brisbane lock Corey Parker’s 55th-minute penalty broke an 8-8 halftime deadlock as the Broncos beat the New Zealand Warriors 10-8, leaving Brisbane two points behind the leaders.
