Tiwari in u-14 semis of AITA Talent Series

Lucknow, Dec 26 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh’s Ashutosh Tiwari continued his winning spree and successfully entered the under-14 singles semifinals of the AITA Talent Series Tennis Championship-2012 Wednesday.

Tiwari scored a thrilling win against Tanmay Sharma at the La Martiniere Sports Development Society Tennis Court here.

Top seeded Tiwari had to struggle hard to score 6-7 (3), 6-3, 7-6 (4) in a marathon battle. After losing the first set, he rallied back in style to win the next two sets.

For second seeded Srijan Singh, it was an easy outing against eighth seed UP’S Akarshit Mahajan of UP 6-1,6-2. Likewise fourth seeded Mohit Seherawat from Delhi beat Uttrakhand’s Drona Walia by 6-2, 6-4.

There was some consolation for Akarshit Mahajan, when he defeated state mate Satyakin Kohli by 4-2, 4-2 to make it to the under-12 singles semi-finals.

Similarly seventh seed Naman Sharma from Delhi beat statemate Naman Sehrawat by 5-3, 4-0, where as sixth seeded Drona Walia of Uttarakhand beat fourth seed Anmol Singh Arora from Delhi by 5-3, 4-1.

Boys under-14 singles (quarterfinals): Ashutosh Tiwari (UP) (Seed1) bt Tanmay Sharma (UP) 6-7 (3), 6-3, 7-6 (4), Srijan Singh (UP) (Seed 2) bt Aakarshit Mahajan (UP) (Seed 8) 6-1, 6-2; Mohit Seherawat (Dli) (Seed 4) bt Drona Walia (Utk) 6-2, 6-4.

Boys under-12 singles (quarterfinals): Aakarshit Mahajan (UP) (Seed 3) bt Satyakin Kohli (UP) 4-2, 4-2, Naman Sharma (Dli) (seed 7) bt Naman Sehrawat (Dli) 5-3, 4-0, Drona Walia (Utk) (Seed 6) bt Anmol Singh Arora (Dli) (Seed 4) 5-3, 4-1.
