NOTTINGHAM, England — India’s Murali Vijay was dismissed for 146 as the visitors moved to 342-5 at lunch on day two of the second test against England at Trent Bridge on Thursday.

Vijay had added 24 runs to his overnight score of 122 when a James Anderson delivery hit him high on the leg. Umpire Bruce Oxendale gave him out but replays showed the ball would have cleared the stumps. Replay reviews are not being used in this series, consistent with India’s longstanding policy.

Vijay’s wicket was India’s only setback in an opening session in which they added 83 runs.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni was unbeaten on 81, having been dropped when on 50 by wicketkeeper Matt Prior off the bowling of Stuart Broad.

Ravindra Jadeja was on 24 from only 18 deliveries
